Brief Characteristic:
Department of Transporting Systems is the guarantee department for Master study programme "Transportation Infrastructure", Master and Bachelor study programme "Transportation Systems and Technology" and Doctoral study programme "Transportation Systems and Technology". The department ensures the education for those study programmes and for common faculty courses. Particular courses are focused on construction, layout and design of the traffic route, traffic, location of routes, crossroads and railway stations, transport planning in urban and suburban areas, relation between traffic and environment; development of network of motorways and high-speed railways, modernization of railway network, design, construction, reconstruction and maintenance of traffic routes.
The department put the accent on the project teaching. The wide projects specialization is the design, construction, reconstruction and operation of traffic routes and their impact on the environment and the land-use planning, design and realization of roads, motorways and railways and traffic service in region, layout of public transport in urban and suburban areas including public mass transport (tram lines and underground location and construction), traffic safety and accidents. Students have wide offer of the projects according to their specialization and its results is also theme of thesis and exercise in employment (project, construction and realization companies, state administration and local authorities etc.). The results of students works are presented to their younger school-mates annually.
The research and expert work of department is focused on layout of traffic service in region and cities, on the modern project methods of the transport constructions, environmental problems of layout and operation of traffic routes, public transport concept including new modern construction of the tram tracks and public transport preferences; traffic safety and accidents and development of cycling transport.
The Department of Transporting Systems cooperates with the private companies and state administrations and local authorities. The department cooperates especially with Czech Railways (CD), Railway Infrastructure Administration (SZDC), Skanska DS, DIPRO, SUDOP PRAHA, GJW Praha, METROPROJEKT Praha, SUBTERRA, Plasser & Theurer etc.
