Recent Research Topics in Impact Engineering: An Introduction to Our University, School, and Laboratory.

This seminar will begin with a brief introduction to Hiroshima University, its Graduate School, and our research laboratory. Subsequently, recent research activities in the field of impact engineering will be presented.

The presentation will focus on several topics that reflect the speaker's current research interests, including the recently developed instrumented Taylor impact testing technique, the impact behavior of iron-based shape memory alloys, and dynamic transformation toughening in materials exhibiting plasticity-induced phase transformation. In addition, recent advances in understanding dislocation dynamics through a notion of microforce, combined with crystal plasticity theory will be discussed.

Through these topics, the seminar aims to provide not only an overview of contemporary challenges and opportunities in impact engineering and the mechanics of advanced materials but also Hiroshima University.
