On Thursday, 17 September 2026, the Faculty of Transportation Sciences of the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) hosted a working meeting of the partners of the international BalkanITS project. Representatives of the CTU Faculty of Transportation Sciences, Linköping University, and the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest took part in the discussions.
The main objective of the meeting was to coordinate project activities and prepare materials for the upcoming gathering of the entire project consortium, which will take place in October at the University of Prishtina in Kosovo. The participants also discussed opportunities for further development of international cooperation, particularly in the field of education in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and the establishment of joint double degree study programmes.
The BalkanITS – EU-Balkan Innovative Master Curricula in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) project focuses on the development and modernization of master's degree programmes and micro-credentials in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems at universities in the Balkan region. The project aims to strengthen cooperation between universities and industry while creating a shared digital educational platform that supports teaching, knowledge sharing, and professional development in the ITS sector.
In addition to the European partners from the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Romania, the project involves universities from the Western Balkans: the University of Sarajevo and the University of East Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the University of Prishtina and Kadri Zeka University (Kosovo), as well as Adriatik University Bar and the University of Donja Gorica (Montenegro).
