Professional Profile and Academic Leadership
In my research and pedagogical activities, I focus on mathematical modeling, soft computing, and data analysis within the context of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). My goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical applications that enhance transport safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
A significant portion of my career is linked to the Faculty of Transportation Sciences at CTU in Prague, where I have held key managerial and academic roles:
- Dean of the Faculty (2022–2026): In this role, I utilized my extensive experience from prestigious foreign universities and the commercial sector.
- Vice-Dean for International Relations: Focused on the internationalization of research and education, including global projects such as EU-US ATLANTIS.
- Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics: Development of the LAMBDA (Laboratory of Applied Mathematics in Transport and Logistics) for cooperative research with industry.
- Industrial Management Experience: Before returning to academia, I served as a Solution Architect and Head of Branch for the German technology company JENOPTIK Robot GmbH, which I founded and led in the Czech Republic.
Core Areas of Expertise and Research
- CCAM (Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility): Development of algorithms for cooperative vehicles focusing on emission reduction and integration into urban infrastructure.
- MaaS (Mobility as a Service): Modeling travel behavior and developing algorithms for mobility as a service, including projects such as nuMIDAS and SMART.
- Digital Twins in Transport: Architecture of digital twins for predictive management and logistics in projects such as D3E and LEAD.
- Automation and Safety: Development of expert systems for autonomous trains (VEXA) and the harmonization of highway traffic flows.
- Decision-Making Processes and Human Behavior: Studying factors influencing mode choice and participant behavior using advanced methods such as Deep Neural Networks (DNN) and SHAP explainability.
Scientific Performance and Professional Recognition
According to the Scopus database, my scientific output reaches an H-index of 14 with nearly 900 citations; according to Google Scholar, my H-index is 18 with over 1700 citations.
- Chairman of CzeCCAM (Czech Association for Autonomous and Cooperative Mobility).
- Member of the Engineering Academy of the Czech Republic and member of Scientific Councils (CTU, UPCE, UNIZA).
- International Academic Collaboration Award (University of Texas at El Paso, 2023).
- Advisory Board Member for the H2020 LEAD project – Digital Twins in last-mile logistics.
- Member of the Board of the Association for Transport Telematics (SDT).
International Certification and Practical Outputs
Beyond my academic degrees, including a Ph.D. from Penn State University, USA, I hold several international certifications confirming my expertise in process management and complex system development:
- Project Management and Agility: Agile Scrum Master (EXIN), ITIL® v3 Foundation, IMQ Certificate in Management (ILM).
- Systems Engineering: OMG-Certified Expert in BPM (Business Process Management), CPRE (Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering).
- Utility Models: Co-author of certified results, such as the Expert system for autonomous trains (No. 36609) and the Strategic sensor for road transport (No. 16975).
