The Department for Project Activities ensures end-to-end support for researchers and doctoral candidates—from the identification of suitable funding calls and proposal preparation to project implementation and the full sustainability period. The department primarily supports faculty-wide projects funded through operational programmes and Horizon Europe.
Regular monitoring of calls and grants
We inform the Faculty of Transportation Sciences about current national and international calls via a newsletter, and we help researchers identify suitable funding opportunities for their research projects in individual consultations.
Preparation of project applications
We advise researchers during application preparation and research project planning - from defining proposal objectives and milestones, identifying project partners, and structuring work packages to preparing an itemised budget. We also provide administrative support for submissions to the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, the Czech Science Foundation, Operational Programme Jan Amos Komensky (OP JAK), and others.
Contacting project partners
The Department for Project Activities offers research on foreign markets and searches for suitable partners for research cooperation. We build on many years of experience in managing Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and Interreg bilateral cooperation projects. We help with addressing foreign partners, creating consortia and concluding cooperation agreements and with the use of research and development results.
Project management
Not only experienced managers run projects, everyone begins somewhere. The Department for Project Activities offers support in project management at project start-up, during implementation, and through completion and reporting.
Risk management and change management
Effective project delivery requires early risk identification and the design of measures to mitigate their impact on the project as a whole and on its results. We help principal investigators and teams manage budget, timeline, and staffing changes and implement change-management procedures in line with funder rules.
Consultations on public procurement
Legal requirements and funder-specific conditions for tender procedures are stringent and may challenge even experienced project managers. The Department for Project Activities supports the preparation of procurement documentation, running the tender procedure, administering the process, and concluding the contract with the selected supplier. During the procurement procedure, we verify compliance with international sanctions regimes and exclude suppliers whose entities or beneficial owners are sanctioned; we also screen for conflicts of interest.
Output monitoring and reporting
We supervise deadlines, monitor the fulfilment of objectives, and ensure that indicators are reported to the funder. The Department for Project Activities works closely with principal investigators to meet agreed goals and timelines while overseeing the monitoring and reporting of indicators.
Open access and data stewardship
Open-access publishing ensures free availability of results to professional and general audiences and thereby increases research impact. We disseminate project outputs within academia and for practical application in the private sector, public administration, and society at large. Research data are managed in line with the FAIR principles (findability, accessibility, interoperability, reusability), with Data Management Plans covering technical, legal, and ethical dimensions.
Project management is a mosaic of activities, and every problem can have multiple solutions. If you are looking for the best one, please contact Luboš Nouzovský, Head of the Department for Project Activities.
