S t a t i s t i c s

       for English speaking students

      Examination
For the examination I have prepared st following semester work. You can solve it any way you want (alone or together),
however, each of you must understand it. At the exam, I will discuss with you, what is missing and ask you about some
solutions.
The terms and room for examination will be determined later.

Schedule   rough program for study

      Basic materials for study
Textbook                -  written text for learning (designed for self-study)
Examples 1
            - examples from probability and statistics                  moreExamples   from random variable
Examples 2
           -  examples to be solved with Statext
Overview of testing
- how to find a proper test - how should i ask to assign a proper test to given Example
Overview of Statext
  - overview of tests with examples and hints what function to use in Statext
Slides   and   comments - slides for distant teaching.    Principles of selected tests

Evaluation of Test1
Test1 with results

Help to some difficult parts of Statistics
The help can be downloaded
  -->  here
   It explains the following topics:
Population, sample, sample realization - what is what
Data ranks - example how to construct
Data and population moments - overview of characteristics for data and discrete / continuous random variable
Statistics for estimation - statistics is a function of sample; here it is defined and graphically illustrated
Properties of the statistics - three properties that the statistics should have to be a good point estimate.
Definition of p-value - it serves of evaluating results of tests; here the motion is explained in detail
What side of test to select
- tests can be both, left or right sided; here is a hint to recognize the side
Chi-square a d F test -
definition and examples
Validation in regression analysis - regression analysis can be differently valid; there are several ways how to learn it

       Deeper knowledge of statistics
Constant at normal distribution
(how the constant can be computed)
Standardization of normal distribution
(transformation from general to standard normal distribution)
Confidence interval for expectation
(derivation for known data variance)
Difference between confidence intervals and tests
(how confidence intervals and tests are related)

Here are the questions and answers about statistics (to help you in orientation to your knowledge)
They are also in Textbook
questions   and   answers

Tests for verification your knowledge (only for you - no marks are assigned). For final evaluation, similar tests will be used.
Test 1 - probability

Test 2 - statistics

Test 3 - parametric tests

Test 4 - nonparametric tests

      Download of Statex
https://www.statext.com  (we work with version 3.6 - here is the  download)
It runs without installation and it is free (after pressing Later). Or it is possible to work on-line.
Here are also many useful materials, in menus.
