Defense of Doctoral thesis

Publication of dissertations:

Doctoral theses defense are open to the public at the Faculty of Transportation Sciences of the Czech Technical University in Prague in accordance with §47b par. 2 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll. (Higher Education Act) at least 5 working days before the defence at the Department of Science and Research.

The publication of doctoral theses for which the defence took place is ensured centrally through the CTU Central Library. The result of the defence, including opponent opinions, is available at the Department of Science and Research of the Faculty of Medicine of the Czech Technical University.

Documents to be submitted with the application for permission of the doctoral defence:

according to the implementing regulations for the procedure for the defence of the dissertation, which are part of the Study and Examination Regulations of the Czech Technical University in Prague for students of doctoral study programmes

  1. Request for permission to defend signed by the Chairman of the Specialist Advisory Board file word  (~508.4 kB).
  2. Brief curriculum vitae including professional and research activities (signed in manuscript).
  3. A complete list of scientific published and unpublished works, discoveries, inventions (self-signed), or opinions on these works from the relevant scientific institutions, in the case of co-authorship, the percentage of the doctoral student, or the number of chapters or pages.
  4. Responses to publications and citations (if available in writing), in the negative case it is necessary to indicate on a separate paper the wording "Responses to publications and citations are not known to me", date and signature.
  5. Dissertation thesis in 4 copies /in case of 2 opponents/, 5 copies /in case of 3 opponents/ tightly bound and in electronic form in pdf format. The work must comply with the applicable regulations (see the Study and Examination Regulations of the Czech Technical University in Prague, Part Four, Art. 28, points 1 to 5). It must contain an affidavit that he has prepared the work independently.
  6. Supervisor's opinion on a doctoral student
  7. Summary in English.
  8. Abstract of the dissertation (approx. 10 - 15 lines).
  9. Doctoral thesis statement in format A5(15 pcs) containing a summary in English - condensed version of the dissertation file word  (~19.4 kB).
