Labeling of Images Generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI)

In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 of the European Parliament and of the Council (the so-called AI Act), specifically Article 50, which requires informing about content created using artificial intelligence, the Faculty of Transportation Sciences, CTU in Prague labels AI-generated images on its website with the text “AI” in the top-right corner of the image.
The obligation to label content created or modified using artificial intelligence has been binding since 2 August 2026, when the transparency requirements under Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (AI Act) became applicable.
This labeling serves transparency and ensures that website visitors can easily recognize which visual materials are the product of artificial intelligence rather than authentic photographs. The labeling takes the form of a visual badge with the text “AI”, which is complemented on mouse hover by a tooltip explaining that the image was created using artificial intelligence.
The labeling is implemented exclusively using HTML and cascading style sheets (CSS); JavaScript support is not required. The structural information that the image was generated using AI is part of the page's HTML code (the badge's aria-label attribute) and is machine-readable.
