On Tuesday, September 24, the Dejvice campus was buzzing with activity. No wonder—Race Day was taking place, and representatives from the Faculty of Transportation Sciences were there too.
The CTU Lions student team showcased their electric motorcycle, while the Green Gliders team presented their energy-efficient electric race car.
Visitors enjoyed dynamic demonstrations of CTU teams' work as well as static displays, where they could chat with students about everything related to the development of race cars and motorcycles.
The event was officially opened by Vice-Dean for Educational Activities, Ing. Patrik Horažďovský, Ph.D., representing our faculty.
For CTU Lions, the season isn’t over yet.
“The final race week will culminate from October 14–19, 2025, at the Aragon circuit in Spain, where we’ll face competition from all over the world—from Canada to India,” said Zuzana Jeřábková.
“The races will include technical and dynamic inspections, followed by dynamic disciplines, qualification, and a final race with a mass start. We recommend everyone follow our Instagram @ctu.lions, where we’ll share live updates.”
She added that the team currently has 15 members, including the rider.
“We’re looking for new members for the next season—people with drive, to whom we can pass on our know-how,” she concluded.
This year, for the first time, the Green Gliders team also participated in Race Day. The team was founded at the Faculty of Transportation Sciences in spring 2024 with the goal of developing ultra-efficient race cars.
“We’re showcasing the very first vehicle from our workshop—our Glider, powered by an electric motor. We built this car for the Shell Eco-marathon 2025, which took place in June 2025 at the Silesia Ring in Poland,” said Ľubomír Krajňák on behalf of Green Gliders.
He noted that Green Gliders was the only Czech team at the competition and rated the experience positively.
