We develop, invent, test and research everything related to transport technology, its management and control and, above all, its integration into the framework of the transport system. Hardware, software, interfaces and people.

The scientific activity of the department is focused on understanding the laws, processes and design of transport technology. In the past years, projects have been addressed in particular with the aim of promoting driver safety and training (ASLAN, REVISED, TRESBSD), and a truck simulator training facility has been developed (the Spanking project), among others. The Department is also the organiser of DCIS conferences.

We cooperate with a number of commercial partners such as Škoda Auto, Volkswagen AG, Bosch and Porsche Engineering. In cooperation with Škoda Auto, the Department operates the R&D 4.0 Laboratory at CIIRC, which involves students in its day-to-day operation, where they gain valuable experience in real-world development for the largest Czech automotive company.

The department is pedagogically and professionally focused on the construction and operation of transport technology. Transport technology today is not only vehicles, but networks and systems of people and machines that must work reliably, efficiently and with respect for the environment. The courses provided by the department introduce students the theory of vehicle construction. For students of higher years, the department offers courses focused on special vehicle characteristics and systems - testing, vehicle driving dynamics and passive safety, the impact of electronic systems, vehicle design, body construction, manufacturing technology, vehicle operation and management.

An important part of the department's teaching activities is CTU Lions team, which develops, builds and races its own motorcycles in the MotoStudent series.
