New Trends and Technology in Logistics

Abstract:
The project is focused on modern logistics and current options for its utilization. The entire logistic system is based on original principles of logistics, which must be understood first. Data collection follows and is given by the character of a logistic chain. Utilization of process modeling methods enables description of both original processes so as the optimized processes with subsequent deployment of new technologies. The selection of new technology must follow not only the customer instructions and preferences but also assessment of the newly proposed system from the perspective of improving effectiveness and efficiency of the resources spent. Current technological boom in logistics goes hand in hand with the needs of modern logistic chain. In the project, students familiarize themselves with original principles which are the foundation of modern logistics. Students will be guided to understand logistic processes and to acquire techniques for their formalized notation – the process modeling. Models enable analyses and search for options for improvement of individual processes so as the overall logistic chain. After engaging with the new logistic technologies, it is necessary to find the right place for their implantation where the benefits will be maximized.
