Tunnel systems and their safety

Abstract:
The project deals with the issue of tunnel systems on roads in cities on highways, but also on railways. Tunnel construction is one of the important elements in the transport system, which includes specific telematics systems, control elements, superstructure systems, control panel, comprehensive diagnostics, while new topics such as cybersecurity, predictive maintenance, navigation, cooperative systems are applied in the design and implementation, autonomous operation and, last but not least, the safety and reliability of the equipment in the specific environment of the tunnel construction. The project deals with a total of three directions in which students of the project can develop and profile. The first direction is the design part concerning projects, standards and preparatory parts for tunnel constructions and their design using ACAD, BIM, return calculations for the selection of suitable technology and systems. The second direction concerns our own implementation and implementation solutions for the design of the tunnel control system, control via SCADA based on the web interface and the Atvise® platform, acquaintance with PLC and OPC UA control bus programming. It includes the design of HMI, simulator and simulations of subsystems and technologies, including the behavior of drivers in the tunnel during emergencies and the reaction of dispatchers to traffic events and tunnel system failures reflected in visualization and virtualization. The third direction is focused on diagnostics, data collection, application of predictive approaches and evaluation of the behavior of systems in the tunnel from a long-term perspective focused on reliability and safety. An integral part is also the evaluation of the behavior of drivers and dispatchers. The overall view of the three directions is reflected in the design of the life cycle of the equipment in the tunnel and the gradual creation of knowledge and expert systems, which are becoming part of complex and complex technologies. The project focused on tunnel systems also has a significant benefit in not only theoretical activities and practical application in involvement in grants, laboratories and teamwork in our country and abroad, but also in specific real practice and cooperation with commercial entities and government that tunnel systems. solves and operates.
