Fare collection and information systems in public transport

Abstract:
In addition to the so-called vehicle and stop information systems, passenger information systems also include various Internet portals providing mainly pre-travel information, often with the option to purchase a ticket. Without passenger handling systems, the development of which has been very dynamic in recent years, public passenger transport could no longer exist today. Vehicle tracking systems are a prerequisite for providing up-to-date information on VHDs. Today, systems for automatic passenger counting are increasingly used to optimize public transport. However, in addition to the mentioned systems, many other telematics systems are also used in public transport. Within the project, students can focus on the analysis of information and check-in systems, respectively. to solve topics of their own or coming from practice, or they can participate in the development and testing of really functioning systems within the cooperation of our faculty with selected transport organizers, all under the auspices of the Laboratory of Fare Collection and Information Systems.
