While the CAD model is being prepared for 3D printing, it is sliced into layers. Contrary to planar slicing, where an object is cut by horizontal planes and then a curve for the toolpath is generated from these intersections, non-planar slicing uses twisted planes for object cutting. It brings freedom to toolpath creation and each object can be printed in adjusted layers that reflect its geometry. Benefits of such printing are being explored in plastics and involve enhanced surface finish, cracking reduction and ability to print cantilevers. This projects goal is to test advantages of non-planar prinitng using clay and concrete.

Contemporary computer models allow to simulate human movements and activities in space for the game development purposes, but also to investigate human behavior. Various principles and algorithms can be used for these models. However, agent-based models offer the most promising results. The goal of the project is development of an agent-based simulation tool for a case study to verify whether it is possible to simulate the human behavior in public space with sufficient accuracy. Furthermore, the desired characteristics of the simulation tool, the optimal form of the simulation outputs and the requirements for the user interface of the tool should be defined within the case study development.

Sound masking is the cutting edge technology being used to improve acoustical comfort in open offices. This method is however not applicable in spaces suffering from impulse noises due to the high ratio of impulses to the background noise. Such environments are typically in industrial production spaces. The project aims to develop an interactive generative ambient composition capable of reacting to actual noise level and improving the acoustic comfort in the environment by adding new sound. Making the actual perceived sound more close to musical material might become easier to filter out and thus less pervasive.

This project builds on the successful concept of Virtual Academy, which enables learning by walking through a space in virtual reality. This phase of research deepens the understanding of principles of learning in digital space. The Aim is to describe memorability parameters of the space and specify the right amount of detail which ensures sufficient differentiation of the space while keeping low cognitive load.

The research deals with the issue of public participation. The aim is to verify the possibilities of involving Audience development methods, which work with the personal experience of each participant, which leads to a greater attunement of the group to each other and a higher understanding of the performance´s messege. The aim of the research is to verify whether the methods of Audience development will have a similar impact when used during the meetings with the public in the context of the city. Simulation used for the evaluation should enable the measurement of the course of negotiations without the methods of participatory lecturing and with it.

Project Virtual Academy is based on the close relationship between space and the creation of memory in the human mind. All kinds of memory techniques are built on this connection, one of them being for example memory palaces. These are helping to keep a large amount of information in the long term memory, which can be beneficial for example when learning a new language. The concept of Virtual Academy is about application of the memory techniques in the environment of virtual reality. With the help of VR the user can prepare the convenient space where the information meant to be memorized will be placed, which is a perfect combination of the media and the technique itself.

A city as a complex phenomenon and an entirety of events, its invisible communication flows (information and data telecommunication networks and their access points), energy, goods and materials distribution and movement of users themselves and their spatial interactions with the environment nowadays no doubt has been creating new conditions and demands on the city's spatial organization, infrastructure, its organic growth and its thickening. Urban space today is an aggregate of complex dynamic processes, which contribute to its configuration and mutually influence each other. Thus, urban environment shows emergent qualities and contains multi-layer scenarios of its own development and reconfiguration in time. This stratification is impossible to be comprehended by a linear model of a single predicted concept (top-down strategy). Architects and urban planners may, however, cover these specifics by a prediction of space development with a multi-layer result that would take into account

The basic requirement in a glass structure designing is a flawless communication between architect, designer and contractor. My findings from the conferences and glass exhibition Glasstec 2010 and 2012 in Düsseldorf, in which I participated, and especially linking-up with AGC Glass Europe, the new partner of my research in the field of structural and technological solutions of glass structures, clearly define the problem of the cooperation of architects, contractors and investors. Innovative glass structures usually encounter problem as early as being designed. The problems are following: investor's fear of financial cost, contractor's far of manufacturing complications. Despite producer's technical support realizations facing up to unpreparedness of the project, lack of knowledge of glass in its structural and aesthetic level. Prerequisites for an effective design and sustainable cooperation of the team is good, clear communication - plain architect's outputs compatible with contracto

Konference starších doktorandů, konference nových doktorandů a výstava posterů v oborech architektura, výstavba, urbanismus a prostorové plánování. V době Týdne vědy a výzkumu probíhají též obhajoby disertačních prací a státní závěrečné zkoušky letního semestru. Na všechny výše uvedené akce je pozvaná i odborná veřejnost, prostřednictvím webových stránek Fakulty architektury ČVUT.

Since 2007 the Faculty of Architecture has taken part in the activities of Intermedial Institue; the common experimental studio, which conects education of technical and artistic universities (ČVUT+AMU). There is a CAVE - virtual stereoscopic display system, which allows to percept 3D projection via polarscreen glasses. Connection of this system with Kinect creates intuitive interface. The sense of the project is virtual form of diverse spaces, described in subject Architectural Composition. It's an aplication of contemporary technical medium in education of traditional subject, where the text and 2D image is replaced by immersion 3D experience. Platform, created by this project, aspire to become the tool of future architects, which allows them real expresion from the space. Abstract terms become real experience again, which involves not just racional level of thinking, but it penetrates even emocional sphere of perception.

The subject of the proposed project is to develop an integrated set of software tools as a support for automated assessment of architectural design of a structure. The emphasis is put on procedures of the so-called generative design, which, when supplied with flexible information tools, naturally result in optimized design of a building, not only from the aesthetic point of view, but also in optimal utilization of materials and technologies used. Based on experience accumulated during the previous cooperation of the applicant and the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, the adopted approach systematically builds on a modular principle to achieve maximum synergy with existing products in the commercial and open-source communities. The resulting product will contribute to significant speedup and increased interaction between architects and engineers, thereby contributing to savings in the whole process of structural a design and building construction.
