In previous years of the grant competition, we have successfully and systematically addressed (A) Categorization of digital sketches for communication (B) Categorization of digital sketching tools. Which were also successfully published at the eCAADe 21 conferences. (C) Interviews with architects on sketches and tools to verify the designed theoretical framework. This is where profound findings were found regarding the effectiveness of sketching in the design concept phases. For example when it isn't possible to use rendering because there are no details on the design yet. Interactivity with the client was confirmed as the most important aspect of the digital and traditional sketch. This year, we would like to focus grant funds on exploring this interactivity in the concept phases of the building design. Tomas Dorta from the University of Design of Montreal (Founder of HYVE 3D, 2014) and Hadas Sopher from the Faculty of Architecture in Nantes was interested in the research. They offered help and collaboration in exploring the interactivity in the research thanks to their background.

What is effective communication? How can an architect streamline a communication relationship by digitally sketching while saving resources such as time, money, energy during the design process? In the third year of my research, I would like to make an experiment with several cases of architects working with and without digital sketches. Where does it make their workflow and communication with clients more effective? In the second part, I would like to use this grant for a questionnaire survey of the client part of the relationship. How they perceive digital sketches. By intersecting these two sets, I want to obtain criteria: efficiency factors in the relationship between architect and client.

The project focuses on the categorization and mapping of architectural digital sketches / visualizations made by the architect in the design process of the analysis, concept, design and presentation phases for the client. The research also follows the research of Kateřina Nováková "Collaborative sketching". And it is connected with the results of Ladislav Fialková's research "data-mining". There are two successful SGS solvers in the team. The results will be beneficial for further research of the dissertation as well as for the Institute of Digital Design and Modeling.
