The aim of the research will be to design a new type of modified asphalt binder based on secondary raw materials (waste plastics). For successful research and development, design, assessment of mechanical properties of indepth research is required. The research and development will be carried out at the Faculty of Transport and in collaboration with other research institutes. The aim is to combine the knowledge and technologies acquired in the individual fields - mix design Faculty of Transport, microplastic content determination Institute for Hydrodynamics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, mechanical testing of asphalt mixtures- University of Calgary, Canada. For the above reasons, the application is designed to obtain funding for the completion of a foreign internship, for scientific and publishing activities and to obtain scientific documents for the dissertation to verify the results proposed at the Faculty of Transport. Due to the time commitment of the whole project, the internship is planned for the second half of 2025 and the completion of the dissertation in 2027. The output will include a publication in an impacted journal dealing with pavement issues. The funding will be used for the internship, publications, conferences and measurements of microplastics in water in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences.
