About Department

We are part of the Faculty of Transportation Sciences at CTU in Prague and we focus on sustainable mobility, the interconnection of individual modes of transport, all aspects of operation and planning of transport infrastructure, public transport, high-speed rail transport, the impact of transport on the environment and road safety. Our ranks include experts in highway and road planning and design, railway tracks and station design and urban rail transport, public transport concept and operation, public transport preference, transport terminals, local road design, environment or traffic flow theory. Mobility and transport is a complex issue, which is why our team is so diverse. We use our expertise not only for science and research, but through the teaching of profile courses and student projects in the field of DOS/DS (Transportation Systems and Technology), we aim to pass on our knowledge to the next generation of future professionals in undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Our department has worked on many interesting projects linking academia and practice. For example, we have been involved in the implementation of road safety inspections and audits, and still hold accreditation for the training of road safety auditors; we have been involved in the large-scale research project HLUVLA (the impact of measures on railway infrastructure on the origin and transmission of noise from moving trains) or we have contributed to the Prague Integrated Transport Stop Standard, the first manual for the design of public transport stops and transfer points in the Czech Republic.

Our experience and knowledge also serves partners from the public and private sector. We carry out traffic surveys, provide expert assessments, develop transport concepts and transport service plans, cooperate on the definition of quality standards in public transport, etc. In short, there is a lot to do!
