The using of Life Cycle Costing (LCC) analysis methodology provides producer with important input data in the decision-making process of research and development phase, operation phase and at the end of disposal phase. Applying the LCC method will create conditions suitable for activating the innovation potential, more efficient use of internal resources of the company, as well as for the renewal and modernization of outdated engineering products. At present time the use of this method is well developer primarily in the field of construction. The main objective of the proposed project is to create the methodology of life cycle cost analysis in rail transport for rolling stock, which would contribute to more efficient use of resources and to increase competitiveness.

Only the full integration of all processes and data related to product life cycle, from design to disposal with the after sales service, maintenance and disposal, allows manufacturers to meet the demands of today and tomorrow's market for full satisfaction of users of products and meeting environmental requirements. Product lifecycle management offers benefits in terms of transparent and efficient processes, accelerated product development, reduced business risk and reduction of cost of production. Engineering industry is one of the globally most competitive and capital-intensive sectors. Customer requirements for product quality, shortening delivery times and lower prices, are becoming more urgent. As a result of a deeper understanding of the product life cycle will be possible to shorten development time for new product, reduce costs, rationalize the use of resources and provide customers with the required quality.
