Department of Smart Cities and Regions
Transportation networks form an environment with a wide variety of transportation and logistic problems. This project is focused on research of facility location, vehicle routing, optimization of logistic centres operation, optimization of supply chain logistic and economic point of view (the costs and risk analysis). The project deals with the application of optimization methods in public transport as well. For example, in the project some optimization problems regarding public transport services or control plans for controlled intersection etc. will be solved.
Specialization:
Logistics of passenger or shipment transport in space and time is a dynamic environment that generates many tasks and problems, often of varying complexity and requiring an individual approach to their solution. The project offers to applicants the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and gain experience in the implementation of optimization methods based on different approaches and principles, not only in solving practical problems occurring in conditions of different transport modes (rail transport, road transport, air transport) and logistics processes (supply, storage, production scheduling), but also in their theoretical development. Problem solving will be based on the mathematical apparatus and methods of graph theory, mathematical programming, inventory theory, renewal theory, scheduling theory, queueing theory, including the use of simulation methods and nature-inspired algorithms.
