The issue of emissions in air transport has been an increasingly discussed topic in recent years, also in the context of the growing volume of traffic. Carbon dioxide emissions have always been discussed in this context, with other pollutants receiving increasing attention as well in recent years, having also a significant impact on the global climate and local air quality near airports. In order to tackle this issue with proactive measures, the ability to effectively monitor and report these emissions is necessary, with a suitable data source being ideal for this purpose. Current options for calculating emissions of airport ground movements are still relatively limited in terms of the accuracy of their results. This project focuses on the use of the ADS-B surveillance technology for the purpose of producing airport operational statistics and refining the calculations of airport ground movement emissions. For this purpose, defined traffic-related parameters are evaluated, including time milestones associated with the aircraft taxiing process, which are automatically determined using ADS-B data.
