Global Navigation Satellite System has become part of our everyday life and our dependence on it has been increasing though various fields including aviation. The GNSS signal transmitted by satellites is being received as a weak signal, therefore it is susceptible to interferences. A several situations of GNSS interference recently occurred in the real operation causing the limitation of using procedures based on satellite navigation. In most cases, the source of the interference is a jammer placed in a lorry which is located on a road or a car park around an airport. Furthermore, there may be intentionally transmitted jamming signals for disabling the position determination of military vehicles in war zones. There is a need to ensure the alternative navigation system for situations of GNSS signal unavailability, as well as to ensure the time synchronization. A several concepts of alternative systems have already been designed, however, none of them was determined the global alternative GNSS backup system. The project concerns with validation of designed concepts from the sight of appropriate solution for needs of the Czech Republic. Moreover, it aims to create an original model for position determination based on position information exchange among aircraft. This model enables solution for position calculation outside line of sight areas of the terrestrial stations within the alternative concepts.
