A shared space is an urban planning and transport approach to the design of public spaces based on creating conditions for balancing its social, economic, residential and transport functions. The focus of this project is the research of shared space in school areas. Pre-school spaces are important public spaces that need to be designed with care, both from an architectural-urban planning and safety point of view, due to the presence of the most vulnerable road users - children. International practice shows that the principle of shared space is a possible solution to all requirements mentioned above. The importance of the project is underlined by the fact that this traffic regime will soon be introduced into Czech Law without any further design support such as design standards.
