The project is focused on quantitative assessment of the risk in road tunnels. This means, for a specific tunnel and the proposed (or existing) facilities to calculate a degree of risk, respectively a number of fatalities for a given emergency scenario. Thereby it will be possible to change the equipment of the tunnel and see the impact on increasing or decreasing level of risk depending on addition or removal of some equipment. This makes possible to optimize the equipment of the tunnel in terms of maintaining a reasonable level of risk to users on the one hand and minimize capital and operating costs on the other hand. The project is based on the original idea of using artificial intelligence methods for evaluation of quality of technology. This principle was even published in the official document issued by international road organization PIARC. The aim is to bring this idea into practice by elaborating a national risk assessment methodology and programming environment that implements it. Higher ambition is to apply the method on the European level, as recommended by the directive on the single 54/2004/ES safety in tunnels on the trans-European network.

*The design is aimed at innovation of technological process of analysing and visualisation noise arrays in closed objects and behind the acoustic shieldings both in exterior and interior obtained by measurement of acoustic camera. The aim of creating new system is identification of sound sources that can be visualisated 2D or 3D and integrated to GIS and design documentation. The program design also includes the proposal of complex metodology and coherent software for noise polygons analysis, which could be able to provide acoustic and space data in acceptable short time.

The solution comes out from the analysis of the current and planned systems for the transmission of information to the driver and from its detail technical-economical description. The architecture of collection and treatment of the part of traffic system data (the data from the town and from extravilans are foreseen) will be elaborated. The contracts with the partners from the neighbouring countries will be established and kept. The process should culminate in formation of working groups co-ordinating the development of RDS-TMC in the middle-European region. The part of the project is also the participation in the TMC forum, which is co-ordinated by ERTICO. The substantial part is also the review of all standards in CEN and ISO which solves the said problematic. The result is the proposal of system architecture and the proposal of progress in system construction of RDS-TMC under our conditions.
