Anotace:
This article analyzes traffic conflicts in a parking area in front of a shopping center, which functions similarly to a shared space. The study specifically monitored interactions between pedestrians and vehicles in an environment lacking formal traffic signage and pedestrian crossings. A total of 33 traffic conflicts were documented, with 29 classified as Level 1, involving minor adjustments in speed and direction, and 4 as Level 2, requiring more significant maneuvers and evasive actions. This research highlights the importance of understanding traffic conflicts as a critical aspect of evaluating safety in shared spaces. The findings indicate that even without formal regulations, the area remains safe due to mutual respect and informal communication among users. Over the past five years, only two traffic accidents occurred, underscoring the effectiveness of informal traffic management. This study contributes a valuable perspective on shared space safety and suggests that informal systems can effectively maintain safe interactions between vehicles and pedestrians.
