The work deals with the simulation of the motorcycle helmet drop test with the numerical software LS-Dyna. The aim of study was to obtain acceleration values of the headform gravity center. The factors of head injuries HIC were determined from the acceleration values. The model of motorcycle helmets was created by using of a 3D handheld scanner. An impact pad was created and the headform model was modified. The draft for the model was represented by a real motorcycle helmet. Properties of materials used for making the actual helmet were assigned to the motorcycle helmet model. The quality of helmets is assessed in terms of damping properties at the drop test. Damping properties were assessed on the basis of the acceleration values of the head gravity center. A drop test was also performed on the pads rotated in different directions. The problems of motorcycle helmets testing in Europe is adjusted by the ECE 22-05 standard. The standard primarily determines how to make drop tests.

Anotace:
The protective function of a bicycle helmet is tested under ČSN EN 960 in a so-called drop test. The study is focused on helmet drop tests conducted in numerical software LS DYNA. According to this standard ČSN EN 960 - virtual model of the head and impact pad was created. The model of the bicycle helmet utilized from earlier studies and obtained from 3D scan of the real helmet was also used. The model has similar properties as a real drop test model. The quality of helmet's damping properties is derived from the values of acceleration measured in the centre of gravity of a dummy head. With the help of the LS DYNA program the quality of damping properties of three types of helmet design was compared. The effect of helmet's displacement from the ideal position on dummy head was also examined. The aim was to find the output value of the model of head acceleration during the drop test and evaluation of Head Injury Criterion. This project was done within the framework of the institutional research plan, identification code MSM6840770043.

The article deals with contact stress analysis of pelvic bone after implantation of cemented acetabular component with imperfections of cemented layer. 3D high resolution FE model of pelvic bone was created from the sequence of CT-slices. Boolean operations were used for inserting the spherical cemented component. Cemented component was eccentrically inserted into the pelvic bone and that created imperfection as non-uniform cement layer. Two contacts were defined in the FE model. The first contact is defined between the cement layer and the pelvic bone and the second one is between the cement layer and the polyethylene cup. The model was loaded by quasi-static joint forces, representing the maximum value of stance phase of gait [Bergmann et al., 2001]. The FE model was used to ascertain the contact stress conditions in the underlying subchondral bone.

In general all orthopaedic operations may cause the change of muscle balance. This dysbalance various not only range of movement but also the loading vector during the movement. In case of hemiarthroplasty when the new joint is created by femoral replacement and intact acetabulum could be the dysbalance very dangerous. Migration of the implant head after hemiarthoplasty is the problem which observed to nearly at all patients. Muscle dysbalance and shape of acetabulum are the two main problems solved by numerical analysis of hip joint FE model.

The paper deals with contact stress analysis of pelvic bone after implantation of cemented acetabular component with imperfections of cemented layer. 3D high resolution FE model of pelvic bone was created from the sequence of Computer Tomography (CT) slices. The magnitude and character of the contact stress distribution in subchondral bone depends on the type of imperfections in cement layer. Several openings are often drilled into the bone to improve the fixation of the cemented acetabular cup into the pelvic bone. Boolean operations were used for inserting the spherical cemented acetabular implant. Two contacts were defined in the FE model. The first contact is defined between the cement layer and the pelvic bone and the second one is between the cement layer and the polyethylene cup.
