Railway transport is generally considered relatively environmentally friendly; however, there is still room for further reducing its negative impacts. The aim of this project is to support the introduction of more eco-friendly vehicles into the railway network. One of the most favorable solutions in the Czech Republic is the use of alternative propulsion systems, particularly electrochemical batteries in electric traction vehicles, or regional transport units. This project focuses on the collection and analysis of data necessary for the development of a mathematical model to assess whether line electrification or the deployment of battery-powered vehicles (potentially with point-based power supply/charging) is more suitable for a specific railway line. The proposed model will take into account environmental, operational, and economic factors related to both infrastructure and vehicles, while also determining the optimal mode of operation. The project includes identifying situations where the operation of a line might be both non-viable and uneconomical. The results will contribute to a deeper understanding of the transition to more sustainable and efficient transportation technologies and will serve as a key foundation for the researcher's dissertation. It is important to emphasize that this project will draw from insights and experiences abroad, as well as the latest global scientific research from countries where battery-powered vehicles are already in regular use. One of the most extensive experiences with this type of transport is in Germany, for example, in the area around Chemnitz. Additionally, the project could facilitate the exchange of scientific knowledge and collaboration with the Technical University of Dresden, where the project proposer is interested in undertaking a foreign internship. Currently, discussions are also underway with a PhD student specializing in alternative propulsion systems from the Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and

The project's aim is to create a decision support tool for evaluating alternative solutions for construction modifications of railway stations on regional lines to achieve barrier-free accessibility. The project will contain a detailed analysis of selected railway stations using various configuration types. Subsequently, weighted evaluation criteria will be chosen, based on which the tool will be developed. The objective is to create a programme with user-friendly controls and understandable outputs, which can be used for designing of the stations and helps to choose the preferred solution in specific locality. This project corresponds to the dissertation of student - proposer.

Díky kombinaci optických a akustických snímačů bude možné průběžně, systematicky a neinvazivně sledovat kvalitu konstrukce železničního svršku v projížděném úseku, nadto v podstatně kratším čase než při statických metodách měření. Včasná detekce a sledování trendu emisní hlučnosti železniční koleje umožní optimalizovat údržbové práce, a tím předcházet snížení životnosti kolejnice a nadbytečnému zvýšení hlukového zatížení okolí, přičemž forma detekce a jejích výstupů podpoří významně digitalizaci těchto procesů.

The project proposal sets a framework for strategic cooperation among key stakeholders of the rail sector. Under the umbrella of a rail Skills Alliance, businesses, education and training institutions, professional associations, and other partners together will develop and implement strategies to address skills gaps and shortage, by developing occupational profiles, vocational programmes and qualifications, as well as designing a long term action plan to be rolled out at the European, national and regional levels. After that, STAFFERS will also support the design and delivery of joint vocational training curricula, programmes and teaching and training methodologies, drawing on evidence of trends and skills needed in the rail sector. In addition, STAFFERS will explore, develop and implement approaches of education, training and skills development for cross-border railway traffic. In order to foster transnational mobility and exchange of various groups of learners and staff, the project will also develop and test cross-border student mobility schemes and work-based internships.

In last decade the number of passengers in rail transport has been rising. This phenomenon generates the need of trains with larger capacity and shorter intervals, which means higher requirements for rail infrastructure. The operators of rail transport are usually concerned only with railroad capacity and access roads for passengers seem to be overshadowed. The meddling of passenger traffic flows is more frequent (including mobility impaired people). Passenger traffic flows influence each other especially on platforms and access roads. This causing a discomfort for passengers and the transfer times could be prolonged. In extreme cases even termination of transfer connections. The aim of the project is to set parameters influencing passenger traffic flows in public transport terminals, compare existing models and validate their results in Czech conditions by using cameras and software for flow recognition. The task is to find out, if the elements for people with reduced mobility and orientation (guidence paths, warning surfaces etc.) are sufficient. Primarily in public transport terminals and transfer routes. The aim is to find determinative parameters for directing of this routes where needed and to define descision-making tool for their optimal design.

The project aim is to determine the impact of the railway track construction on noise emissions. The measurements of the noise emissions from specific trains passing through different structures of the superstructure will be carried out. There are several methodologies (both foreign and domestic) using for calculating the emissions of noise from passing trains on the railway line design modifications but none are tested on the current situation in the Czech Republic in terms of the fleet composition, structure and characteristics of the trains and track design. There are the disproportions between the calculated values and the noise level after adjustments implemented realistically measured so often. The project will respond to the question of which construction of the railway superstructure which causes emission of noise from the moving trains in according with reference to the Czech Republic terms.
